Meet Melissa Burr, STOLLER’S Founding Winemaker

After more than 20 years at the helm of the Stoller Wine Group production team, Melissa Burr assumed the role of founding winemaker. The move fulfills her desire to continue supporting the family of brands by championing the Stoller Wine Group with key consumers and members of the trade while helping to maintain house styles for Stoller’s wineries and brands. Additionally, Melissa will continue to develop and craft the History brand and wines.

An Oregon native, Melissa graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, intending to practice naturopathic medicine before discovering her true passion in wine. She studied winemaking and fermentation science at Oregon State University and interned during harvest for several local wineries before becoming production winemaker for Cooper Mountain. In 2003, Melissa joined Stoller Family Estate as the winery’s first dedicated winemaker. During her tenure, she worked in concert with the vineyard team to oversee the site’s continued refinement and grew production from 1,000 cases to 150,000 while acting as a steward of the Stoller Wine Group legacy.

In 2013, Melissa partnered with Bill Stoller to launch History, a brand dedicated to paying homage to historic vineyards in the Pacific Northwest. This collection evolves with every vintage as she tells the stories of these esteemed vineyards and the people who started them.

Meet Chef chris Leyden

Chef Chris Leyden was born and raised in Lincoln, NE, where he stumbled upon his love for food and the culinary industry. He moved to Central Oregon in his early twenties where he furthered his culinary experience by becoming Sous Chef of 900 Wall in downtown Bend. He took that experience with him when he moved to Charleston, SC to continue his education in southern food and hospitality. Eventually moving back to Central Oregon to open his own restaurant with his wife and partner, a few years later. Feast Food Co. has now been open and operating for 2 years, after its tenure as a food truck for the 2 years prior, bringing Redmond a new and inviting food experience. Chris’s menu focuses on using locally sourced ingredients to bring the farms and ranches of CO to the forefront. He puts together the seasonal options of our area in a new and exciting fashion, calling it “Modern American Freestyle” with a focus on PNW ingredients.
